Abstract
This research study aims to identify the effect of Adapted golf program on motor performance and timing ability of adolescents with intellectual disability. 27 adolescents with intellectual disability were recruited for the purpose of this study and were assigned to experimental group (n=11) and control group (n=16). Adapted golf program was applied on experimental group for 6 week, 24 session, 90 minute. two-way repeated measure ANOVA was conducted to identify the effect of Adapted golf program and the results are as follows. First, participate in Adapted golf program present interaction effect according to group and time on total score of motor performance (F=9.001, p=.006) and fine motor ability (F=13.77, p=.001). Therefore, Adapted golf program was effective to enhance motor performance of adolescents with intellectual disability. Second, Adapted golf program affect gross motor and balance ability of adolescents with intellectual disability positively, but it was not significantly effective. Thus, enlarged proportion of gross motor and balance ability tasks are required within Adapted golf program in order to enhance motor performance ability of adolescents with intellectual disability evenly. Third, participate in Adapted golf program present interaction effect according to group and time on timing ability (F=4.750, p=0.039) of adolescents with intellectual disability. Thus, it was identified that Adapted golf program has positive effect on timing ability, which is necessary for coordinated movement.
