As Western forces moved to the east, the status of traditional etiquette and customs in East Asia was gradually replaced by law and its original function was lost. However, in a modern society that emphasizes rule of law, we feel that society is not as simple and good as it used to be. What is the problem?In this article, the author first explores the nature of rituals, then compares the similarities and differences between rituals and laws, and finally discovers the values of the times contained in traditional rituals and customs to attract everyone's attention. The author is interested in what role traditional rituals and customs can still play in modern society. Its role is to complement the rule of law to promote social stability and harmony. Consciousness has an external formal program and an internal spiritual meaning. External consciousness programs can be adjusted and changed depending on time and local conditions, but the spiritual meaning mostly has a positive function and keeps us. Eastern society has entered the era of the rule of law, but modern society still has traditional modern etiquette and customary values that cannot be erased. And, it helps promote social harmony and stability.
