본 연구는 대형유통업체의 지역 내 신규출점 및 영업활동이 지역내총생산과 고용, 소득 등 지역경제 전반에 미치는 영향을 거시적 경제변수 위주로 살펴본 연구이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 대형유통업을 백화점업과 기타대형종합소매업종으로 구분하고, 광역시도별 패널데이터를 활용하여 동적패널 모형인 패널벡터자기회귀모형(Panel-VAR) 분석을 시도하였다. 분석결과, 대형유통업체들의 지역 내 신규입점 및 영업 활동은 종사자에 대한 임금 지급, 매출의 발생, 사업체 간 경쟁 등 다양한 경로를 통해 전반적으로 지역경제 활성화에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 고용효과와 관련하여서는 기타대형종합소매업의 경우 신규출점이 지역 내 고용을 유의하기 증가시킨 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 백화점업의 경우 고용효과가 명확하지 않은 것으로 나타났는데, 이는 업무자동화에 따른 고용수요의 감소와 인력아웃소싱 등에 기인한 것으로 사료된다.
Abstract
In this study, we estimate Panel Vector Autoregressive(VAR) Model using regional panel data for investigating the effect of opening of a new department store and other large-scale retailers on regional economy, such as gross regional domestic product(GRDP), employment, and earned income. According to our regression results, opening of a new department store or other large-scale retailers have a positive effect on the regional economy such as regional income, sales, and GRDP. However, unlike other large-scale retailer, employment effect of department store is not clear in the estimation results.
