가구 및 지역사회의 경제적 수준이 아동이 경험한 신체적 및 정서적 학대에 미친 영향: 보호자의 주관적 사회경제적 지위, 지역사회의 평균소득과 소득불평등 수준을 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 보호자가 인식하는 주관적 사회경제적 지위, 지역사회의 평균소득, 지역사회의 소득불평등 수준을 통해 가구 및 지역의 경제적 수준이 아동이 경험한 신체적 및 정서적 학대의 빈도에 미치는 영향력을 살펴보았다. 한국아동패널, 한국노동패널, KOSIS 국가통계포털 자료를 분석에 이용하여 다층모형 프와송 회귀분석을 실시하였으며 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 모든 요인이 동일할 때 객관적 가구소득이 높을수록 보호자는 주관적 사회경제적 지위를 더 높게 인식하였다. 소득불평등 수준이 높은 지역사회에 거주하는 보호자는 주관적 사회경제적 지위를 높게 인식하고 있었으나 지역사회의 평균소득은 보호자가 인식하는 주관적 사회경제적 지위에 유의한 영향력을 미치지 않았다. 둘째, 가구의 소득수준은 보호자의 주관적 사회경제적 지위를 완전매개하여 아동이 경험한 학대의 빈도에 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 모든 조건이 동일할 때 소득불평등 수준이 높은 지역사회에 거주하는 아동은 학대를 적게 경험하였다. 그리고 지역사회의 소득불평등과 보호자의 주관적 사회경제적 지위의 상호작용 효과가 아동이 경험한 학대에 미치는 영향력은 유의하지 않았다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 정책적 함의를 제시하고 추후 연구방향을 논의하였다.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effects of the subjective socioeconomic status[SSS] of the family and the average income and income inequality levels of the community on child abuse. For this, it used data from the Panel Study on Korean Children, Korean Labor & Income Panel Study, and Korean Statistical Information Service and adopted multi-level Poisson regression analyses. The findings are as follows. First, family income was positively related to SSS. Parents living in the communities with higher income inequality tended to perceive their SSS higher. However, average community income did not affect the SSS. Second, SSS fully mediated the relationship between family income and child abuse. Third, when all other factors were held constant, children living in the community with higher income inequality reported less frequent child abuse. Additionally, no interaction effect between SSS and income inequality was found. Based on findings, policy implications and research directions were discussed.
