중도 실명 시각장애학생의 시각장애학교 전공과 적응과정 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

이 연구는 시각장애학교 이료재활전공과정에 재학하는 중도 실명 시각장애학생의 이료 및 재활교육에 대한 적응과정을 알아보기 위한 목적에서 중도 실명 시각장애학생을 대상으로 내러티브 탐구 방법에 의해 수행되었다. 중도 실명 시각장애학생이 시각장애학교 이료재활 전공과에 적응하는 초기 과정에서 형성된 경험은 새출발, 혼란과 혼돈, 막연함, 정체감으로 나타났고, 후기 적응과정에서는 생각 전환, 자신감, 타협과 행동으로 도출되었다. 이러한 주제를 바탕으로 전공과 적응과정에서의 경험과 문제점 및 그에 따른 대안에 대해 이야기하였다. 중도 실명 시각장애학생에게 시각장애학교 이료재활전공과정이 직업재활과 사회적응에 전 반적으로 도움이 되는 역할과 기능을 담당하고 있음을 확인하였다. 그러나 이론 중심에서 체험 중심 교육, 집단보다는 개인 요구에 초점을 맞추는 교육, 직업과 재활교육이 균형있게 조정되는 교육으로 보완될 필요성이 제시되었다. 이러한 문제에 대해 시각장애학교 이료재 활전공과는 수용하고 조율하며 변화하려는 노력과 모색을 통해 중도 실명 시각장애학생의 성공적인 자립을 지원해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the adjustment process of adventitiously visual impaired students in oriental therapy and rehabilitation education as they took the vocational training course of oriental therapy and rehabilitation in a school for individuals with visual impairment by conducting a narrative inquiry into the students. In the early process of their adjustment to the oriental therapy and rehabilitation major in a school for individuals with visual impairment, adventitiously visual impaired students had experiences involving a new start, confusion and chaos, vague, and sense of identity. In the late adjustment process, they had a change of thinking, self-confidence, compromise, and action. Based on these topics, the study discussed their experiences, problems, and alternatives in their adjustment process to their specialization. The vocational training classes of oriental therapy and rehabilitation in the school played roles and functions that offered overall assistance for the students' vocational rehabilitation and social adjustment. There was, however, a need to supplement the classes with experience-centered education rather than theory-centered education, education focused on individual needs rather than group needs, and balanced education between vocational and rehabilitation training. The department of oriental therapy and rehabilitation in a school for individuals with visual impairment should make efforts and attempts to accept, coordinate, and change in order to solve these problems, thus supporting the successful self-reliance of adventitiously visual impaired students.
