Abstract
The purpose of this research was to test the effect of Body image, Social self-efficacy mediated by fear of negative evaluation on Social anxiety. In this study, 217 college students completed questionnaires. the results were as follows, First, there were significant correlations between social self efficacy and fear of negative evaluation, social self efficacy and social avoidance and distress. and there was a significant correlations between body image and fear of negative evaluation, and body image and social avoidance and distress. Second, the results of path analyses showed that the Rapee et al's model(1997) did not fit the data. the link between social self-efficacy and social avoidance and distress was included, then the model was adequate in explaining the data. Third, fear of negative evaluation partly mediated the link between social self efficacy and social avoidance and distress and fully mediated the link between body image and social avoidance and distress. In Conclusion, These results suggest that Rapee and Heimberg's model partially apply to explanation of social phobic symptoms.
