This study analyzed the popularity and characteristics of Thai Y-series, a genre that deals with boys' love. The Y-series, which was enjoyed by a small group limited and exclusively, has established itself as a mainstream culture in Thai society and gradually grew as a soft power in Thai society. The success of Thailand's early Y-series was due to their use of everyday and simple story that were not as sensational as Japan's, and the attractive 'Kujin' (imagined couple) stars played a key role in its popularity. Significant fandom and commercial success continue to expand the base of the Y series dealing with social issues in Thai society, such as homosexual social prejudice and same-sex marriage.
