이 논문은 權軾을 비롯하여 權希舜, 權守經, 權斗正의 삶과 풍모를 통해 杏亭家의 선비정신을 살펴보기 위해 기획한 글이다. 杏亭 權軾은 단종에 대한 절의를 지키며 학자 및 처사로서의 삶을 살았다. 사촌에 행단을 세우고 은거하며 학문 연찬과 후학 양성에 전념한 선비로서의 풍모를 지닌 인물이다. 후학들은 그의 선비로서의 청풍과 고절을 높이 평가하였다. 雲庵 權希舜은 임진왜란 때 의성 수성장의 직책을 맡아 혁혁한 전공을 세웠으며, 장기현감으로 부임하여 선정을 펼치기도 하였다. 덕망을 갖춘 군자로 위국충절을 적극적으로 실천한 인물이다. 自樂堂 權守經은 유학 경전 탐독을 본분으로 삼은 학자이며, 정묘호란과 병자호란 때에는 분연히 창의한 충절지사이다. 군자로서 도학과 충절을 겸비한 선비라 할 수 있다. 沙窩 權斗正은 효행과 학덕, 충의를 두루 갖춘 선비이다. 특히, 그는 사촌에 사와라는 움집을 짓고 도학자로서의 자기정체성을 명확히 정립한 인물이다. 행정가의 인물들은 학문에 정진하면서 절의와 충절을 실천한 점에서 진정한 의미의 선비라 할 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper was planned to examine the Seonbi(scholar) spirit of the Haengjeong family by looking at the lives and characteristics of Gwon Sik, as well as Gwon Hui-sun, Gwon Su-gyeong, and Gwon Du-jeong. Gwon Sik lived the life of a scholar and recluse, maintaining his loyalty to King Danjong. He was a figure with the demeanor of a Seonbi, establishing a school (Haengdan) in Sachon, retreating, and devoting himself to academic research and the nurturing of younger scholars. His successors highly praised his integrity and unwavering spirit as a Seonbi. Gwon Hui-sun served as the defense commander of Uiseong during the Japanese invasions of Korea (Imjin War), achieving distinguished military service, and later demonstrated good governance upon being appointed as the magistrate of Janggi County. He was a virtuous gentleman who actively put his loyal patriotism into practice. Gwon Su-gyeong was a scholar whose main pursuit was the diligent study of Confucian classics, and he was a loyal patriot who resolutely raised an army during the Jeongmyo and Byeongja Manchu Invasions. He can be considered a Seonbi who possessed both moral philosophy and loyalty as a gentleman. Gwon Du-jeong was a Seonbi who was well-rounded in filial piety, scholarly virtue, and loyalty. In particular, he built a small thatched house called Sawa in Sachon and clearly established his self-identity as a moral philosopher. The figures of the Haengjeong family can be called Seonbi in the true sense of the word, as they pursued academic excellence while practicing integrity and loyalty.
