스포츠사회과학 연구에서 생명윤리의 문제: IRB의 적용

이 연구는 최근 연구관련 기관이나 연구자 개인에게 전방위적으로 확산되고 있는 '책임 있는 연구의 수행(RCR)', '바람직한 연구의 실천(GRP)'의 개념이 인식의 계량화를 목적으로 하는 스포츠사회과학 연구에도 적용되어야 할 것인가 하는 문제를 논의하였다. 생명윤리가 피험자의 보호를 주목적으로 하고 있다는 점에서 보면, 자연과학적 실험이나 관찰 등과는 달리 스포츠사회과학 연구들은 물리적인 접촉이 없다는 점에서 피험자의 보호의무와는 무관한 것으로 비춰질 수 있다. 하지만 이 연구에서는 사회과학 연구영역 또한 피험자 보호가 필요한 영역임을 주장하였다. 이는 생명윤리의 범위가 인간을 대상으로 하는 연구전반으로 정해져 있음에도 불구하고 스포츠 사회과학 연구에 있어서 직접적인 피해유발 여부를 판단하기 어렵다는 이유로 IRB 심의과정을 생략하는 것은 논란의 대상이 될 수 있다는 입장이다. 스포츠심리학 연구에서 성폭행피해자 대상의 연구, 스포츠사회학 연구에서 섹슈얼리티와 관련한 연구 등이 그러한 경우들이 된다. 아울러 <생명윤리 및 안전에 관한 법률>이 인식의 계량화를 목적으로 하는 연구들에 대해 IRB의 심의필을 요구한다는 것도 이러한 주장에 대한 논거가 될 수 있다. 이와 함께 생명윤리는 스포츠사회과학 연구공동체 구성원들의 ‘합의’를 논할 수 있는 수준을 넘어서는 결과를 초래하는 것임도 지적하였다.
Abstract
This study is to examine whether 'Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)' and ‘Good Research Practice (GRP)' expanding on all levels of the individual researchers and the research-related organizations in the recent years shall be applied to the social science researches in sports aiming for the quantification of recognition. Viewed from the fact that the protection of life is the main objective in the life ethics, the social science researches in sports, unlike the experiments and observations of the natural science, may be considered as irrelevant to the duty to protect the subject in terms of there being no physical contact. However, this study suggests that the protection of the subject should be performed in the research areas of the social science as well. This reflect that the omission of the IRB discussion process may bring about the controversy for being difficult to determine whether the direct damages result from the social science researches in sports, even though the life ethics ranges the whole researches targeting the human. The research of the victims of sexual assault in the area of sport psychology and that of the sexuality in the area of sport sociology fall into this category. In addition, the fact that IRB's deliberation of the researches aiming for aiming for the quantification of recognition should be obtained in the <Bioethics and Safety Act> may be the argument for this claim. And also, it is pointed out that life ethics may lead to a result which exceeds the 'consensus' among the members of the research communities of the social science in sport.
