Abstract
A Study on the Foreign Investment Increase and the Industry Structure Change for Chinese Automobile Industry Choi, Byung-hun The continuous increase of foreign investment for Chinese automobile industry has strengthened the role of joint ventures, which established between indigenous companies of China and multinational companies. The strengthening of joint ventures' role in the Chinese automobile industry stimulates a change for industry structure toward market opening and market power growing. The market opening is strongly related to a fact that Chinese auto industry is incorporated with the value chain of world auto industry. In order to analyze a current structure for the auto industry of China, this paper used the five competitive forces model, which suggested by Porter, to catch environmental threats. In addition, this paper tried to grasp the relationship among three factors; foreign investment increase, joint ventures' capability and industry structure change. With the understanding such a relationship, the forward change direction for auto industry structure of China and the overall cycle structure were approached.
