Abstract

In this thesis, the author intend to look the satirical aspects of novels during the liberation period. The author considers that the liberation period is from 1945 to 1948. The period was out of Japanese oppression of Korean and bewildered political situation of Korea. As a consequence, the liberation period is both an opened-space and closed-space. In thesis, the author studied fictions that occured events in the liberated nation as the critical viewpoint. The novels of that periods had the characteristic of literature like satirical device about critical object such as travesty and abuse, sarcasm, hyperbole, irony, paradox. The writers criticized the negative real with the satirical devices. Satiric literature that real-world is different from ideal-world base on the writer's critical spirit of creative. In this paper, the author focused on the novels of Chae Man-Shik․Lee Moo-Young․Kim Il-Ann. In chapter 2, the author studied on pro-Japanese force in this novels. For example, that characters belong to policeman and landowner. In the novels, pro-Japanese characters bring about corrupt events and absurdity. Chapter 3 shows that a person using the U.S. armed forces emerge from obscurity. The writers criticized opportunistic characters. In Chapter 4, farmer characters in the novels live in the land innovation's contradiction. The writers mercilessly lampooned the leading politicians of the day and make inquired about what is a true liberation's meaning. Through this thesis, the author can understand the satirical aspects of the liberation period's novels. In summary, the writers criticized the re-emergence of pro-Japanese people of the day and anti-nationalistic actions. In conclusion, the study of the satirical aspects latent in during the liberation period's novels provided opportunities with differently approach.
