Abstract
Chinese Act for Compensation for Oil Pollution Damage With China becoming the second largest oil importing country in the world, oil pollution accidents of oil transporting ships have increased and the damages caused by the accidents have increased too. How to prevent such oil pollution and how to perfect the relevant compensation legal regime becomes an urgent subject. This article is to introduce the present conditions of shipping oil pollutions in China, and, combining the international convention on compensation for damages caused by oil pollution from ships, to analyze and assess China’s legal regime of compensation for damages caused by oil pollution from ships, and to give some advice for relevant legislation.
