청소년기 부모자살을 경험한 유가족의 외상후 성장과정에 대한 현상학적 연구

본 연구는 Giorgi 현상학적 연구방법을 활용하여 청소년기 자살로 부모를 상실한 자살유가족의 외상후 성장과정을 탐색하기 위한 목적을 가진다. 이를 위해, 중⋅고등학교 시기에 부모를 상실한 후 현재 자살유가족 자조모임에 참여하고 있는 24세 미만 청소년 4명을 대상으로 심층인터뷰를 실시하였다. 분석결과, 부모를 자살로 상실한 유가족의 외상후 성장과정은 4개의 구성요소와, 10개의 하위구성요소, 21개의 의미단위로 도출되었다. 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 부모의자살과 관련된 심리적인 외상을 극복하고 유자녀의 건강한 성장을 촉진시킬 수 있는 사회복지 실천방안에 대해 논의하였다. 특히, 애도상담과 심리치료를 통해 가족의 건강성을 회복하고, 자살유가족의 경제적인 상황을 고려한 물리적인 지원과 심리정서적인 지원이 동시에 이루어져야 할 것을 제안하였다.
Abstract
Using Giorgi’s phenomenological method, the purpose of the study was to explore posttraumatic growth process of suicide survivors who lost a parent due to suicide in adolescence. To do this, in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with four study participants who were younger than 24-year-old, who lost a parent due to suicide in their middle and high school years, and are currently participating in a self-help group for surviving family members. Study results on posttraumatic growth process among children of suicide victims were classified with four themes, 10 sub-themes, and 21 meaningful statements. Based on the study results, implications for social work practice were discussed on how to overcome psychological trauma related to a parent’s suicide and facilitate healthy growth of surviving children. In particular, the study suggests that condolence counseling and psychological therapy are necessary to recover family health, and both physical and psycho-emotional support based on financial situation of surviving family should be provided at the same time.
