자살유가족의 애도과정에서 나타나는 낙인경험에 대한 질적 연구

초록

본 연구의 목적은 자살유가족의 애도과정 중에 나타나는 낙인 경험이 어떠한지 그 의미와 본질을 탐색하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 Giorgi 현상학적 방법을 사용하였고, 자살 사별의 기간이 3년 이상인 20세 이상 성인 10명을 대상으로 심층 면담 및 자료 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 5개의 주제와 13개의 하위주제, 33개의 의미 단위를 구성하였다. 주제는 ‘사회적 관계에서 유대감을 상실함’, ‘가족의 자살을 은폐함’, ‘자기 스스로를 낙인찍음’, ‘슬픔과 낙인에서 벗어나고자 몸부림침’, ‘낙인을 경험하면서 성장함’으로 도출되었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 자살유가족에 대한 낙인을 최소화할 실천적 개입 방안을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning and nature of the stigma experienced during the grieving process of the bereaved family members of suicide. For this purpose, the Giorgi phenomenological method was used, and in-depth interviews and data analysis were conducted targeting 10 adults aged 20 years or older who had been bereaved by suicide for more than 3 years. As a result, 5 themes, 13 sub-themes, and 33 semantic units were formed. The themes were derived as ‘losing a sense of connection in social relationships’, ‘covering up a family’s suicide’, ‘stigmatizing oneself’, ‘struggling to escape from sadness and stigma’ and ‘growing up experiencing stigma’. Based on the results of this study, practical intervention plans to minimize the stigma of families bereaved by suicide were discussed.
