초록
In order to clarify the genetic influences on the athletic performance of throwing item, we performed the serial case-control studies using the -174G/C polymorphism(rs1800795) in interleukin-6 (IL-6) gene and Pro12Ala polymorphism(rs1801282) in peroxisome proliferator activator receptor gamma(PPAR-γ2) gene as the genetic markers. A total of 146 subjects were divided into controls(n=77) and throwers(n=69), respectively, and two genetic polymorphisms analyzed by Taqman method in automated genotyping system. In the case of the -174G/C polymorphism in IL-6 gene, the GG genotype and G allele were only detected in all subjects studied, and, thus, indicated the monomorphic patterns. However, in the case of the Pro12Ala polymorphism in PPAR-γ2 gene, there was the significant association in genotype distribution of this polymorphism between controls and throwers(p=.05). Especially, the Pro/Pro genotype was almost three times frequent in throwers than in controls(dominat model, odds ratio(95%CI)=3.00(0.92~9.79)). Therefore, the Pro12Ala polymorphism in PPAR-γ2 gene may be one of the useful genetic markers influencing the athletic performance of throwing item. Further studies using larger sample size and genetic polymorphisms in more candidate genes will be needed to clarify the polygenic nature on the athletic performance of throwing item.
