고려말 대마도(對馬島) 원정의 해양전략적 의의

1389년 박위의 대마도 원정은 고려의 첫 번째 공세적 대외 원정이었음에도 관련 사료의 부족 등으로 군사적 의의를 부각한 연구는 부족하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 해석적 사례연구와 군사사 연구방법을 통해 대마도 원정의 전략적 의미를 밝혔다. 원정작전 관련 해양전략 이론을 통해 원정작전의 필요조건들을 도출한 후 이를 고려말 원정작전 사례에 대입하였다. 연구분석 결과, 당시 고려는 필요 정보에 기반을 둔 원정작전의 설계, 전략적 수송, 전력의 보호, 특수전력의 투입과 철수, 해상에서의 충분한 화력지원과 군수지원 등 해양에서 힘을 투사할 수 있는 능력을 갖추고 있었음을 확인하였다. 즉, 왜구를 해상에서 공세적으로 대응한 것에서 나아가 군사력을 해외까지 투사하였던 대마도 원정작전은 ‘고려가 해양통제가 가능할 정도로 우수한 해군력 보유 국가였음’을 증명하는 상징적 사례였던 것이다. 본 연구가 역사 사례를 통해 전쟁 승리에 필요한 전략적 사고 능력을 기를 수 있는 밑거름이 되기를 기대한다.
Abstract
Although Park Wi's expedition to Tsushima Island in 1389 was Goryeo's first offensive overseas expedition, studies highlighting its military significance due to the lack of related historical materials are insufficient. Therefore, this study sheded light on the strategic significance of the Tsushima expedition through interpretive case studies and military history research methods. After deriving the necessary conditions for the expedition operation through the theory of maritime strategy related to the expedition operation, it was substituted into the case of the expedition operation at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty. As a result of the analysis of the study, it was confirmed that Goryeo at that time had the ability to project power from the maritime, such as expeditionary picture-building based on necessary information, strategic transportation, force protection, special forces insertion and extraction, sufficient sea-based logistical support. The Tsushima expeditionary operation, which went beyond responding aggressively to Japanese pirates at sea and projected military power overseas, was a symbolic example of 'Koryo was a country with excellent naval power enough to control the sea'. It is hoped that this study will serve as the basis for developing strategic thinking skills necessary for achieving victory in warfare through historical examples.
