중학교 체육교과 태권도 수업의 의례질서와 자아상

본 연구는 사교육의 이미지가 강한 대한민국 국기인 태권도 교육이 공교육 체제에서도 충분히 활성화될 수 있는 타당성에 대한 분석에 의의가 있다. 이를 위해 Goffman의 상호작용의례이론을 적용하여 중학교 내 정규수업으로 이루어지고 있는 태권도 수업의 의례질서와 참여 학생들의 자아상 분석을 하였다. 중학교 내 정규 수업으로 태권도 교육을 운영하고 있는 S중학교를 연구환경으로 선정하여 질적 사례연구를 실시하였다. S중학교 체육교사 및 학생을 중심으로 총 11명을 최종 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 연구자료는 비참여관찰과 심층면담을 통해 수집하였으며, 텍스트 분석(textual analysis)을 차용해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과, 태권도 수업의 의례질서는 공간적 질서, 역학관계 질서, 정서적 질서로 나타났으며, 수업에 참여한 학생의 자아상은 신체적 자아, 정신적 자아, 교정적 자아가 재생산되고 있었다. 본 연구결과를 통해 중학교 체육교과에서 태권도 수업이 나타내는 다양한 의례질서를 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 학생들이 태권도 수업을 통해 형성할 수 있는 자아상은 매우 발전적인 요소를 지닌 것으로 나타났기에, 공교육으로써의 태권도 교육이 활성화될 수 있는 촉매제가 될 수 있으리라 판단된다.
Abstract
This study has significance in analyzing the validity that Taekwondo education, the national sports of the Republic of Korea, which have had a strong image of private education, will be able to activate in the public education system. To these end, Goffman's theory of interaction rituals was applied to analyze the ritual order of the Taekwondo class, which consists of regular classes in middle school, and self-image analysis of participating students. As such, qualitative research was conducted for this purpose. Eleven research participants were selected via purposeful sampling. The data was collected through Non-participation observation and in-depth interviews with the participants, and it was then analyzed by using the textual analysis method. As a result of the study, the ritual order of Taekwondo class was spatial order, dynamic relationship order, and emotional order. In addition, the physical self, mental self, and corrective self were reproduced in the self-image of the students participating in the class. Through the results of this study, it was possible to confirm the various ritual order indicated by the Taekwondo class in middle school physical education. Furthermore, since the self-image that students can form through the Taekwondo class has a very developmental element, it can be a significant factor to promote the Taekwondo lesson as public education.
