초록

The Atlantic salmon is the most traded farmed fish species, with production rising from 1.45 million tons in 2009 to 2.81 million tons in 2023, primarily in Norway and Chile (Landazuri-Tveteraas, Oglend et al. 2021, FAO, 2024). Large-scale salmon farming in Korea became feasible with major company investments in high-value fish species, but salmon aquaculture remains limited, and data is scarce. In this study, we monitored the microbiome composition of seawater destined for salmon aquaculture. We extracted total DNA from water, amplified the bacterial 16S rRNA gene, and sequenced it using Illumina technology. Overall, we isolated and identified 1518 ASVs from the different samples. The metagenomic analysis showed that the top five families comprise Alteromonadaceae, Cryomorphaceae, Flavobacteriaceae, Halieaceae, and Rhodobacteraceae, with relative abundance ranging from 5% to 40%. At the genus level, Nonlabens showed the highest relative abundance in summer (28.9%). Then, the genus Glaciecola accounted for the most significant percentage of the microbiome during spring and summer. The Serratia genus was the most abundant taxa during autumn, with a relative abundance of 11.4%. The alpha diversity indices showed no significant difference between different seasons and samples. This work consists of a seasonal analysis of dynamic changes of the microbial community in the seawater of the Busan coast.
