연구 목적: 이 연구는 대학생의 사회비교 경향성이 자아존중감을 매개로 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 확인하는 것이다. 연구 방법: 서울 소재 대학생의 183명의 응답 자료를 통계 분석하였다. Baron & Kenny(1986)의 3단계 회귀분석을 실시하였고, 부트스트랩 방법으로 매개효과의 유의성을 검정하였다. 연구 내용: 대학생의 사회비교 경향성이 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향을 확인하고 자아존중감의 매개효과를 확인하였다. 결론 및 제언: 대학생의 사회비교 경향성은 주관적 안녕감에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 이 때 자아존중감의 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의했다. 즉 사회비교를 하는 자주 하는 경향은 낮은 자아존중감과 연결되며, 이는 낮은 주관적 안녕감으로 연결될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 사회비교가 주관적 안녕감에 미치는 영향에서 자아존중감이 주요한 매개변인으로 작용한다는 점을 밝힌 점에서 의의를 갖는다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of college students’ social comparison tendency on subjective well-being and to find out the mediating effect of self-esteem. For this purpose, students attending A university in Seoul participated, and the final 183 survey response data were analyzed statistically. Three-step process of Baron & Kenny(1986) was adapted, and the significance of the mediating effect was tested by the bootstrapping method. As a result of the study, college students’ tendency to compare themselves to society was found to have a negative effect on subjective well-being, and at this time, the mediating effect of self-esteem was statistically significant. In other words, it was confirmed that the tendency to make social comparisons was linked to low self-esteem, which could be linked to low subjective well-being. This study is significant in that it reveals that self-esteem acts as a major mediator in the effect of social comparison on subjective well-being.
