사회비교, 자의식, 자아존중감, 주관안녕 및 신체증상 간의 관계

이 논문에서는 사회비교, 자의식, 자존감, 주관안녕 및 신체증상 간의 관계를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 대학생들에게 전반적 사회비교동기 질문지, 자의식 척도, 자아존중감 척도, 주관안녕감 척도 및 신체증상 척도를 실시하고 수집된 351명의 자료를 토대로 통계분석을 하였다. 그 결과, 사회비교동기와 공적자의식, 사적자의식은 각각 정적 상관이 유의하였고, 사회비교와 주관안녕 및 자존감 간에는 각각 부적상관이 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 사회비교와 신체증상, 공적자의식과 신체증상 간에는 각각 정적상관이 유의했으나, 사적 자의식과 신체증상 간에는 상관이 유의하지 않았다. 높은 사회비교동기와 공적자의식은 자존감, 주관안녕, 신체건강 등과의 관계 양상이 유사하였다. 이러한 결과로부터 사회비교동기와 자의식은 밀접하게 연관된 개념이라는 점을 시사하고, 이 둘의 관계성을 보다 더 정교화하기 위한 연구가 필요함을 언급하였다. 또한 정신건강 및 신체건강의 측면에서 사회비교와 자기비교를 함께 다루는 추후의 연구 방향을 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study examined the relationships among social comparison, self-consciousness, self-esteem, subjective well-being, and physical symptoms. A total of 391 college students participated in this study. we administered a questionnaire consisting of questions concerning social comparison, self-consciousness, self-esteem, subjective well-being and physical symptoms. we conducted correlation analysis and t-test. The results of data analyses showed (1) positive correlations between social comparison motivation and public self-consciousness, (2) negative correlations between social comparison motivation and subjective well-being, (3) positive correlations between social comparison motivation and physical symptoms, public self-consciousness and physical symptoms, respectively and (4) similarity between social comparison motivation and public self-consciousness. The meanings of the results were discussed in terms of mental, physical health in our society. And it was suggested the necessity of investigation about the relationships between self-comparison and social comparison.
