교회 조직은 교회의 본질을 실천하기 위한 기능이다. 그것은 목적이 아니라 교회가 존재하는 목적을 이루기 위한 수단이다. 교회의 조직은 교회에 속한 모든 사람들의 역할을 규정하기 때문에, 교회 조직의 형태가 목회에 도움을 줄 수도 있고 장애가 될 수도 있다. 특히 교회의 조직은 목회자의 역할에 절대적인 영향을 미친다. 전통적인 교회 조직인 메가교회(Mega Church)는 목사가 교인들을 돌보고, 교인들은 목사의 돌봄을 받으며 소수의 특정인만 목회에 참여할 수 있다. 메가교회의 목회는 주로 교회로 사람들을 불러 모아 예배를 드리고 성경을 가르치는 것에 집중된다. 그러나 메타교회는 교회에서 드리는 주일예배와 가정에서 모이는 소그룹 활동으로 이루어진다. 그러므로 교인들이 교회 소속감이 높아지게 되고, 소그룹 안에서 성도의 진정한 공동체를 경험하게 되고, 사역자로 태어나게 된다. 메타교회의 목회자는 목회자로서의 역할을 새롭게 정립해야 한다. 먼저 그는 목회경영자가 되어야 한다. 그는 주일예배와 소그룹 모임이 균형을 갖추도록 하고 각 분야에서 섬길 사람들을 적절하게 배치하여 교회가 건강하게 서도록 하는 사람이다. 다음으로 그는 의사전달자가 되어야 한다. 상명하달 식으로 명령한다든지 사사건건 개입하는 것이 아니라 많은 일을 소그룹 지도자들에게 위임한다. 마지막으로 그는 코치가 되어야 한다. 메타교회에서 목회자는 자신이 직접 경기장에서 뛰는 선수가 아니다. 그는 성도들을 훈련시켜 선수가 되게 하고 자신은 선수들을 지도하는 코치가 된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to suggest a role-model of the pastors in the changing ministerial environments based on a research of domestically and internationally published materials. The structure of a church is a function to realize the nature of the church. The structure is not the purpose in itself, but a means to achieve the goal for which the church exists. Since the structure of the church defines the roles of all people who belong to the church, The type of the church structure may either help the pastoral ministry or impair it. Especially the structure of the church puts absolute effects on the role of the pastor. In the structure the mega-church or traditional church, pastors take care of the church members, and the members are taken care of. Only a few members may participate in the ministry. The ministry of the mega-church mainly focuses on gathering people at the church, worshipping and teaching the Bible to them. However, the ministry of the meta-church is composed of small group activities at the people's homes as well as the Sunday services at the church. In the meta-church structure the church members may have a stronger sense of belonging, experience true communal life of the saints through the small group meetings, and they become leaders of church ministry. Within the meta-church pastors should re-establish their ministerial roles. First, they should become managers of ministry. They should keep the balance between the Sunday services and small group meetings. They should also appoint relevant people in each ministerial area so that the church may see healthy growth. Next, meta-church pastors should be communicators. They should not command as in the military or intervene in every incident, but should entrust many things to the small group leaders. Finally, pastors of the meta-church should become coaches. In the meta-church the pastors are not the players who actually play in the arena. They should train and lead the lay Christians so that they may become good players. This paper is expected to give fresh insights to the pastors of the meta-church who quest for their proper role-model.
