디지털 혁명은 인간에게 물리적 세계를 넘어서는 새로운 ‘펼쳐진 땅’을 제공하고 있으며, 이는 인터넷의 등장부터 가상세계의 확장, 인공지능(AI)과 휴머노이드가 구현하는 미래 디지털 도시에 이르기까지 그 개념과 가치가 진화해왔다. 인터넷 시대에는 도메인 이름과 IP 주소 등 가상의 디지털 영토가 현실 세계의 연장선에서 등장하여 사이버 공간에서의 초기 영토 전쟁을 불러일으켰다. 현재에는 메타버스와 소셜미디어 등 가상세계가 디지털 공간을 혁신하며, 가상 부동산과 NFT와 같은 디지털 자산을 통해 새로운 기회를 창출하고 있다. 동시에 데이터는 디지털 시대의 핵심 자원으로 떠올라 또 다른 형태의 경쟁과 갈등을 야기하기도 한다. 미래에는 AI와 휴머노이드 기술이 융합된 디지털 도시가 현실과 가상의 경계를 허물며, 인간과 AI가 공존하는 새로운 생활 공간을 형성할 전망이다. 이러한 변화 속에서 디지털 세계의 윤리적, 사회문화적 규범을 정립하고 지속 가능한 미래를 모색하기 위해 인문학적 통찰과 가치 체계의 확립이 필요하다. 본 연구는 디지털 펼쳐진 땅의 역사적 전개를 분석함으로써, 기술 중심의 담론을 넘어 인간·사회·환경의 조화로운 발전을 위한 인문학적 패러다임을 제언한다.
Abstract
The digital revolution has offered humanity a new kind of “expanded land” that transcends the boundaries of the physical world. This concept has evolved in its meaning and value from the advent of the internet, through the expansion of virtual worlds, to the emergence of future digital cities powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and humanoids. This paper examines how these changing notions of “land” in the digital world have reshaped human identity and social relationships. In the internet era, virtual digital territories such as domain names and IP addresses emerged as extensions of the physical world. Today, platforms like the metaverse and social media are revolutionizing digital spaces, creating new economic and social opportunities. At the same time, data has become the core resource of the digital age, giving rise to intense competition and conflict. Looking ahead, AI and humanoid technologies are expected to merge physical and virtual domains. By analyzing the historical trajectory of this digital land, this study moves beyond technology-centered discourses to propose a humanistic paradigm aimed at the harmonious development of humans, technologies, society, and the environment.
