『승정원일기』의 修納과 관리에 대한 고찰

Abstract

The Seungjeongwon Ilgi, consisting of 3,243 volumes of books written from 1623 until 1910, includes as five times more information as the Annals. Five copies of the Annals were published in the late Joseon dynasty and were enshrined in archives for permanent preservation. On the contrary, only one copy of the Seungjeongwon Ilgi was compiled and placed at the Seungjeongwon to serve its purpose as a reference for state affairs with its records on institutions and precedents. The Annals and the Seungjeongwon Ilgi were strongly differentiated in their compilation process and management method in accordance with their different uses. This study focused the Seungjeongwon Ilgi in respect of the compilation process and management system. In Chapter 2, this study examined the relation between the juseo’s duties and the amendment and depositing process of the Seoungjeongwon Ilgi. Through this, this study found that there were instances when the juseo had others ghostwrite for him to meet the submission deadlines of the Seungjeongwon Ilgi. In Chapter 3, this study focuses on the duties of the bangjik written on each spine of the Seungjeongwon Ilgi to cast light upon the management condition of the Seungjeongwon Ilgi and the Ilgichibuchaek (Seungjeongwon Ilgi ledger).
