우리는 일기를 통해 당대 현실을 파악해볼 수 있고, 그것이 갖는 당대적 의미와 현대적 의미도 되짚어 볼 수 있다. 이런 면에서 일기는 훌륭한 증언이며 기록이다. 일기는 현대에도 읽혀지는 고전으로 존재하고, 그와 동시에 현대문화의 소재원천으로서 그 기능을 지속하고 있다. 본고는 이러한 측면에서 규장각한국학연구원에 소장된 『(을유)소현동궁일기』의 내용 분석을 통해 소현세자의 죽음 과정과 장례 절차를 밝히는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 이를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 2장은 소현세자가 귀국하여 1645년 2월 17일 벽제에 도착한 날부터 4월 26일 昌德宮 歡慶堂에서 薨逝한 날까지의 기록을 살펴보고, 비록 소현세자의 죽음이 ‘비극적’으로 보이지만 귀국 길의 路毒과 疾病을 잘못 치료하여 病死한 것으로 보았다. 3장은 소현세자가 죽은 4월 26일부터 윤6월 13일 세자시강원을 파하는 날까지의 기록을 살펴보고, 인조가 소현세자의 귀국을 냉대한 이유와 그의 장례를 三年喪이 아닌 短喪으로 강행하려다 신하들의 반대로 이를 철회한 사정, 이외에도 인조가 소현세자를 온당하게 대우하지 않은 여러 가지 일과 아울러 시강원과 익위사의 관원에 대한 대우를 살펴보았다.
Abstract
We can examine the reality of his time through diary, and can review its meanings of his time and our time. In this point of view, diary is an excellent evidence and record. Diary exists as classics read in present age, and continues its function as the subject source of contemporary culture at the same time. This study, in this perspective, aims to examine the death and funeral procedure of Sohyeon, the Crown Prince by analyzing the contents of (Eul Yu) Diary of Sohyeon, the Crown Princepossessed by Gyujangkak, Korean Study Research Institute. This can be summarized as below. Chapter 2 examines the records dated from Feb. 17, 1645 when Sohyeon, the Crown Prince returned home and arrived in Byeokje to April 26 when he passed away at Hwangyeongdang of Changdeok Palace. Although the death of Sohyeon, the Crown Prince looks ‘tragic’, his death seems to have been caused by fatigue of travel going back home, his chronic disease. Chapter 3 examines the records dated from April 26 when he passed away to June 13 when the Crown Prince’s Educational Office was closed. The chapter examines the reason why Injo, the King gave cold shoulder to Sohyeon, the Crown Prince’s home coming why he tried to hold the prince’s funeral service for one-year instead of three-year service why it was withdrawn due to the lieges’ objection; and many other unfair treatment of Injo, the King to Sohyeon, the Crown Prince as well as the treatment to staffs of the Prince’s Educational Office and Prince’s Security Squad.
