초록

Objective : This study explored how lifestyle mediates the relationship between retirement status and life satisfaction to understand how healthy lifestyle maintains or enhances retirees’ life satisfaction. Methods : A cross-sectional analysis of 2020 Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA; n = 6,488, ages 57–102) examined retirement status, life satisfaction, lifestyle, and demographics using Baron and Kenny’s path analysis, Sobel test assessing mediation. Results : Health behaviors mediated 14% of the relationship between retirement and life satisfaction (total: β = −.06, direct: β = −.07, indirect: β = .01; p < .0001). Health status fully mediated this relationship, accounting for 70% of the effect (total: β = −.06, direct: β = −.02, p = .1148; indirect: β = −.04, p < .0001). Social participation fully mediated this relationship, accounting for 96% (total: β = −.06, direct: β = .01, p = .8428; indirect: β = −.06, p < .0001). Although all models fit perfectly, the path models had zero degrees of freedom, making fit indices meaningless. Conclusions : A healthy lifestyle significantly enhanced retirees' life satisfaction. Further research is needed to confirm this relationship due to model saturation. Promoting health and social activities before retirement is crucial for aging well.
