Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the influence of frailty on life satisfaction as well as the mediating effect of social activity participation among community-dwelling older adults in Korea. The data (n=9,541) from the 2020 Living Profiles of Older People Survey in Korea were used for the analysis. As a result, physical frailty showed a negative impact on not only participation in social activities of the older adults, but also life satisfaction. Furthermore, the participation in social activities was discovered to partially moderate the effect of old age on life satisfaction and physical frailty. By suggesting a way to prevent frailty, which affects the life satisfaction of the older adults in the era of COVID-19, and to expand participation in social activities, this study is of significance for increasing life satisfaction.
