The aim of this article is to determine the incidence of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) over the habits and customs of the young Kichwas of the region Sierra of Ecuador. The research addresses the variables from the perspective of the theory of acculturation, considering the use of ICT as ‘digital culture’, with the impact it has on the Kichwa culture determined here by using a sequential mixed investigation approach. The research reached the following conclusions: (a) the hypothesis is false, the elements of digital culture do not affect the cultural patterns of young Kichwas, especially with their relation to family and friends; (b) the cultural patterns change in contact with mestizo culture, principally to avoid discrimination; (c) parents and grandparents do not teach Kichwa language to younger generations as before; (d) rural communities count with the necessary technological facilities to support internet and ICT connections; (e) young Kichwas are willing to promote their culture through ICT and; (f) the information gathered suggest that the assimilation of digital culture in this ethnic group as a derived effect of the acculturation of mestizos over Indians.
