Abstract
This study aims to explore the ethical dilemmas experienced by professional baseball players, identify their patterns and causes, and propose solutions for resolving such conflicts. To this end, qualitative interviews were conducted with nine players who have experience playing in the KBO League. The findings reveal that ethical conflicts can be categorized into intentional dimensions—such as deception, unsportsmanlike conduct, and issues involving social media or fans—and structural dimensions, including match-fixing, beanballs, and organizational culture. The root causes of these conflicts were found to stem not from a lack of individual ethical awareness, but rather from a complex interplay of structural factors within the sports environment, organizational culture, and economic incentives. Accordingly, this study suggests the necessity of implementing systematic ethics education, establishing protective institutional mechanisms, and introducing mentoring systems within organizations. By approaching ethical dilemmas as systemic rather than individual issues, this research holds both academic and practical significance in the field of sport ethics.
