Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of syllogistic Task, and task content on preschool Children's logical thinking Ability. This study of 120 4-year-old, 120 5-year-old, 120 6-year-old investigated logical thinking ability in relation to developmental changes in syllogistic task and task content. And ANOVA and Scheffé Test were used for data analysis. The overall findings of this study were as follows. First, there were revealed the meaningful difference according to their age, task type, and task content. On the 4-, 5-, and 6-year-olds they showed higher scores in the task of deductive and fact content than the other task. Secondly, 5-, and 6-year-olds showed higher scores in the deductive task than this score of 4-year-old, and there were no difference of scores between 5-, and 6-year-olds. However the score of 6-year-olds was higher than the score of 5-year-olds and the score of 5-year-olds was higher than the score of 4-year-olds. This study results led to the general conclusion that the preoperational young children are capable of logical reasoning in case that the factual content is noticeable within their knowledge level.
