2011 개정 교육과정 "동아시아사" 개발 논의

초록

교육과정은 학교가 무엇을 가르칠 것인가를 결정하는 것은 연구하는 교육학의 한 분야이다. 그동안 교육과정 개발은 주로 설계의 개념으로 이해되어 정책의 측면이 간과되는 경향이 있었다. 필자는 주변국에서 시도되지 않았던 <동아시아사> 교육과정을 선택함으로써 <동아시아사>만의 특수한 상황과 역사과의 다른 과목과의 보편적 상황을 모두 살펴보았다. 2011개정 교육과정 <동아시아사> 연구진은 검정 중이었던 동아시아사 교과서 집필진을 포함하여 현장에서 사용하기 전이라는 한계를 보완하였다. 2011 개정 교육과정 <동아시아사> 연구진은 학습자의 입장을 충분히 고려하기 위해 노력하였으며, 교과서 집필 과정에서 나온 제언 및 그동안의 학계의 연구 성과를 반영하고자 하였다. 그러나 교육과정과 집필기준의 불일치로 인하여 교과 집필진에게 혼란을 주었고, 이전의 문제점으로 지적된 것들 중 해결되었으나, 다른 문제를 발생시키는 등의 한계를 보였다. 또한, 교육과정 개정 필요성에 언급되었던 계열화는 당시 추진위에서 한국사를 중점적으로 다룬 관계로 <동아시아사>는 제대로 논의되지 못한 채 다음 개정의 과제로 넘어갔다. 그러나 2015 개정 교육과정 <동아시아사>에서는 계열화에 대한 다른 관점이 제시되어 여전히 계열화는 요원한 상태이다.

Abstract

The new <East Asian History> established under the 2007 Curriculum Revision was introduced through contemplation and effort of the educational sector and academic community of history as the 'Regional World History' of between Korean History and World History. The curriculum of <East Asian History> was created accordingly and was planned to be adopted in 2012. However, the revision was conducted without review due to the 2009 Curriculum Revision that claimed to advocate the ‘future curriculum’. The revision of curriculum of <East Asian History> proceeded without thorough review and due to short development period and heavy focus on the <Korean History> in discussion between promotion committee and policy committee, it was decided to modify the existing curriculum by reflecting the changing educational environment when it was newly established. The <East Asian History> education curriculum was revised by reviewing existing curriculum and 2 textbooks were published accordingly during the development period. After the revision, the standards were adopted to evaluate achievement with the contents and the standards were adjusted to build a certain system to promote understanding of learners. However the task of the ‘sequence’ having been mentioned as a necessary subject in the curriculum revision was left for the next revision, without being discussed in earnest.
