인문계 고등학교에서 이루어진 체육교과의 선택 과목 확장에 대한 사례연구

본 연구는 인문계 고등학교에서 체육교과의 선택과목 확장 운영을 위한 체육 교사의 노력을 바탕으로 선택과목 확장을 위한 과정을 살펴보는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 2025년부터 체육 교과를 확장 운영하게 될 A고등학교를 연구 대상 학교로 선정하였고, 해당 학교에서 근무했거나 근무하고 있는 교사 4명을 연구 참여자로 선정하였으며, 자료 분석은 귀납적 분석 방법을 활용하였다. 연구 결과 ‘1. 학교의 상황 이해하기’, ‘2. 체육 교과의 영향력 키워나가기’, ‘3. 체육 교과를 선택과목으로 넣기 위한 발버둥’, ‘4. 못이룬 확장의 꿈을 후배교사와 함께 실천하기’라는 주제로 결과를 도출하였다. 이러한 연구 결과에 따라서 ‘체육교과의 확장을 위한 체육 교사들의 관심과 노력’, ‘고교학점제의 기회를 발판으로 학생들의 교과목 선택권 보장하기’라는 주제로 논의를 전개하였다. 본 연구의 사례들을 바탕으로 고교학점제의 취지에 맞게 체육교과와 관련된 다양한 과목들도 학생들이 선택하여 학습할 수 있는 기회가 제공되어야 한다는 결론을 도출하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the process of expanding elective courses in a liberal arts high school based on the efforts of physical education teachers to expand the physical education department. To this end, High School A, which will be expanding its physical education curriculum from 2025, was selected as the subject of the study, and four teachers who worked or are working at the school were selected as research participants, and the data analysis was conducted using the inductive analysis method. The results of the study were based on the following themes: '1. Understanding the school's situation,' '2. Growing the influence of the physical education department,' '3. Struggling to make physical education an elective course,' and '4. Practicing the dream of expansion with junior teachers. Based on these findings, we developed a discussion on the topics of 'Physical education teachers' interest and efforts to expand physical education courses' and 'Ensuring students' right to choose subjects by taking advantage of the high school credit system'. Based on the cases in this study, we concluded that students should be provided with the opportunity to choose and study various subjects related to physical education in order to fulfill the purpose of the high school credit system.
