Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze news article data on AI education at universities and identify major keywords and topics to uncover trends within universities. A total of 57,010 news articles related to AI education published from January 1, 2017, to March 31, 2024, from the new BigKinds database were analyzed using Term Frequency (TF), Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF), and topic modelling analysis. The TF analysis revealed the following major keywords: “business,” “educational methods,” “industry”, “talent,” and “enterprise.” The TF-IDF analysis identified “educational methods,” “business,” “industry,” “talent,” and “enterprise” as major keywords as well. The LDA topic modelling analysis identified five major topics: 1) Nurturing innovative talent for the advancement of AI, 2) Government-led national talent development strategies for AI transformation and semiconductor sectors, 3) Promoting field-oriented AI research through university-industry collaboration, 4) Redesigning university education systems in preparation for the AI era, and 5) Bridging regional gaps through AI-based university collaboration. This study confirms the directional shifts in the social perception of AI education in universities. These findings suggest that educational system reforms, customized learning systems, and ethical/policy-oriented strategies for generative AI technologies are necessary for universities to effectively implement AI education in the future.
