A Concentration Analysis on the Air Passengers and Air Cargoes of the Civil Aviation Industry in the Republic of Sakha

This study aims to analyze the market concentration in the aspects of passengers and cargoes of airlines using the Sakha Republic. This research employs a concentration analysis using Concentration Ratio CR(k), the Hirschman–Herfindahl index (HHI), the Lorenz curve, and the Gini coefficient. As a result of CR(k) analysis, concentration of the three largest companies, CR(3) for passengers was derived as 0.619, and concentration of the six largest companies, CR(6) was derived as 0.898. In the case of HHI, the passenger market was found to be forming an oligopoly market as a figure of 1,674 was derived, but the cargo market recorded a figure of 2,657, indicating that it is a very monopolistic market. In addition, the GINI coefficient for the passenger market was 0.6182, indicating that there was inequality in balance. The findings of this study can be used as data for policy making for the development of aviation in the Sakha Republic and the Russian Far East.
