Background This study explores the application of Kintsugi for emotional healing, particularly among Generation Z individuals. By integrating visual analysis, psychological theory, and cross-cultural symbolism, the research specifically examined the symbolic and psychological functions of the gold lines used in Kintsugi. Methods A mixed-methods approach was employed, including online questionnaires, participant observation, and in-depth interviews. Result The findings indicate that the process of repairing ceramics with gold lines promoted emotional release and a meditative state among participants. It also significantly reduced anxiety while enhancing self-acceptance and psychological balance. Conclusion The collected data revealed that most Generation Z participants strongly identified with Kintsugi’s philosophy that “brokenness is beauty.” As they mended the physical cracks in pottery, they also experienced a symbolic healing of their own emotional wounds and interpersonal relationships. The gold lines in Kintsugi serve not only an aesthetic purpose but also act as a powerful medium for psychological healing.
