이 연구에서는 전세계적으로 빠르게 성장하고 있는 스마트 컨테이너의 효용성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해서 기존의 문헌을 조사 및 분석하여 스마트컨테이너의 효용성 항목을 1차적으로 도출하였으며, 이해관계자 심층 인터뷰를 통해 해당 항목을 보완하였다. 이 후 각 효용성 항목이 실제로 유효하지 평가하기 위해서 전문가를 대상으로 설문을 시행하였으며 그 결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과 선사에게는 스마트컨테이너의 도입이 단기적으로는 비용으로 작용할 가능성이 높은 반면, 화주에게는 효용성이 높을 것으로 평가되었다. 다만 중장기적으로는 스마트컨테이너의 도입이 선사도 다양한 가치를 창출할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이며, 무엇보다 다른 선사와의 경쟁에서 이기기 위해서는 스마트컨테이너의 도입이 중요하다고 나타났다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the utility of smart containers, which are growing rapidly around the world. To do so, this research entailed an extensive survey and critical analysis of existing literature to initially identify a list of benefits of smart container utilization. This preliminary list was then refined through comprehensive interviews with diverse industry stakeholders. To validate these benefits, a survey was conducted among experts with the responses subjected to an in-depth analysis. The findings suggest that while the introduction of smart containers may initially pose costs for shippers in the short term, the long term benefits are projected to be significant. From a medium to long term perspective, the deployment of smart containers emerges as an opportunity for carriers, creating various values and serving as a strategic tool essential for gaining a competitive advantage in the shipping sector.
