이 연구는 고린도전서 13장이 전체 서신에서 어떤 위치를 차지하고 있는 지에 대하여 밝히고 있다. 고린도전서는 각 장별 주제가 독립되어 나타난다. 사도는 12-14장에서는 공동체의 세움의 관점에서 은사의 문제를 다룬다. 그동안 13장의 사랑의 주제는 공동체를 세우는 올바른 은사의 문제에 대한 맥락에서 이해되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 13장의 사랑의 주제가 단순히 12-14장의 공동체의 세움과 은사의 장이라는 맥락에서 뿐만이 아니라, 고린도교회의 전체의 문제와연결되어있고 그래서 13장은 전체 서신의 가장 핵심에 속하는 장이라는 사실을 밝히고 있다. 사도는 그렇게 하여 신비적 은사주의로 혼란스런 교회에게 신앙의 역사성을 강조하고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 13장에서 사도의 권면의 중핵은 사랑인데 이 사랑이 신학적 개념이나 신비적 은사로서 이해될 수 없고, 본문에서 고린도교회의 현사실적 삶의 언어로 드러나고 있는 점을 밝히고있다. 그러므로 사도는 사랑을 교훈하면서 독자들을 이 사랑의
Abstract
This study explores the theme and function of the passage in the thirteenth chapter of the First Epistle to the Corinthians that comprises sixteen chapters with distinctive themes. The chapter is located in the middle of Chapters 12 to 14 where the different spiritual gifts are categorized and explained by nature and function as part of theological lessons for building up the congregation. Therefore, previous studies have interpreted the theme of love in Chapter 13 mainly as one of the spiritual gifts that simply foster the theological consolidation of the Corinthian community. This study, however, argues that the theme of love in 1 Cor 13 is not limited to the themes of spiritual gifts and theological consolidation. Instead, the theme of love also forms the kernel of the whole epistle that must have been intended to defend the Corinthian community from the predominance of mystical charismatism, theological ideology, and the other troubling issues. Paul unfolds the theme of love to readers in order to help them properly perceive the troubling issues of the community and further to encourage them to perform their duties of love for one another.
