미수(眉叟) 허목(許穆)의 상서관(尙書觀) - 난(亂)에서 치(治)로의 지향 -

Abstract

Beginning in 17th century, Confucian classics started to flood and various theories of academia were published. This is related to the emergence of the scholars who are critical about Neo-Confucianism. Though their critics were all based on understanding of Zhu-xi. It is Misu(眉叟) her mok (許穆, 1595-1682) who stands between classic Zhu-xi and critical Zhu-xi. Misu understood the world and history as dual structure of governance and confusion based on Confucianism's historical view. He concerned a lot to overcome the confusion and aim at order. He is considered to have been interested in the study of Pre- Qin such as ancient texts and the Sixth Classics. Especially, he was interested in the 《Shangshu》, a legacy of the sage king era. His book review of the 《Shangshu》, the 《Seoseol》reveals his world view of dual structure between governance and confusion well. 《Seoseol》is consisted of 20 articles. Except for general review of article 1, it is consisted of 10 articles, records of peaceful times and 9 articles, records of turbulent times. His ultimate goal was to overcome the confusion and stabilize the world. In order to overcome the turbulent 17th century Joseon, he suggested the four things: the moral, the rule and recruitment of the talent, the virtue and manner, and the punishments of the monarch.
