본 연구의 목적은 주간보호센터를 이용하는 노인을 위한 실무자의 강점관점 개입 사례를 심층적으로 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 주간보호센터를 이용하는 중풍노인을 대상으로 4개월간 개별 사례 개입을 하였으며, 실무자와 노인에 대한 심층면접과 관찰기록, 지도감독 회의록 등을 통해 다양한 자료를 수집하고, 이를 질적 사례 연구 방법으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 강점관점 실천은 관여, 강점사정, 목표 설정 및 자원 확보, 실행 및 지속적 협력, 평가의 과정으로 진행되었는데 이 과정에서 관점의 변화가 핵심적 역할을 하며, 둘째, 클라이언트의 강점과 자원을 활용하는 강점관점 원칙이 문제해결에 효과적이며, 셋째, 시설에서도 개인의 고유한 능력과 기대를 존중하는 개별화된 접근이 가능하며, 넷째, 실무자와 클라이언트간의 협력적 관계가 사회문화적 제약을 받으며, 다섯째, 강점관점을 생활시설에 적용할 경우 독특한 강점과 어려움이 있으며, 여섯째, 노인에 대한 개입을 통해 노인뿐만 아니라 실무자도 변화한다는 사실을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 제안을 하였다.
Abstract
This qualitative case study researched the effects of strength-based case intervention on elderly people with palsy who were attending a day-care center in Gyeonggi-do. Over 4 months, the researcher gathered data by reading documents, observing, conducting in-depth interviews with the elders and day-care social workers, and attending the social worker’s group supervision meeting. Analysis yielded several major findings. The steps of strength-based case intervention were delineated and the core of the process was identified as a transformation of perspective. Focusing on the strengths and resources of the clients, along with their unique abilities and inherent value, was found to be effective. Staff-client collaborations were restrained by sociocultural and organizational circumstances however both staff and clients changed as a result of the implementation of the strength-based approach. The study concludes with a discussion of implications.
