사회복지 전공 학생의 게이트키퍼로서의 준비성: 사회복지 교육과 자살예방 역량의 관계를 중심으로

초록

본 연구의 목적은 사회복지전공 학생들이 경험한 자살관련 교육의 현황과 이들의 게이트키퍼로서의 준비성을 파악하고 사회복지교육과 자살예방 역량 간의 관계를 밝히는것이다. 전국의 사회복지 현장실습을 마친 3, 4학년 학생(n=490)을 대상으로 게이트키퍼 역할 수행을 위한 준비성 척도(PPGR) 등을 활용한 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였고기술통계, t 검정, 구조방정식 모델 분석을 통하여 결과를 도출하였다. 응답자 중 3분의2는 정규수업에서, 4분의 1은 봉사활동과 실습 등 수업 외 활동에서 자살관련 교육을받았다. 자살관련 교육 경험은 높은 게이트키퍼 인식도 및 준비성과 관련이 있었으며교육이 게이트키퍼 인식도를 통해 준비도에 영향을 미치는 부분 매개 효과가 확인되었다. 또한, 수업 외 활동에서의 자살관련 교육은 게이트키퍼 역할의 모든 항목에서 높은준비성과 관련이 있었지만, 정규수업을 통한 교육은 일부 영역, 즉 자살생각에 반응하고도움을 요청하도록 설득하는 역할의 수행을 위한 준비성에는 유의한 차이를 가져오지않았다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 사회복지 교육을 통해 학생들을 전문적 게이트키퍼로양성하여 자살예방에 기여하기 위한 제언을 하였다. 주제어：게이트키퍼, 사회복지 교육, 자살예방, 사회복지

Abstract

This study examines social work students’ educational experiences regarding suicide prevention and their relationships with preparedness as professional gatekeepers. The online survey, using the Perceived Preparedness for Gatekeeper Role Scale(PPGR), was distributed among the third and fourth year social work undergraduate students who completed field practicum(n=490). The results from descriptive analyses show that the two third of the respondents have learned about suicide in the regular curriculum as compared to one fourth through the activities outside of lectures, including practicum and voluntary work. The t-test results demonstrate that those with educational experiences through these activities show significantly higher scores in all of the PPGR items, whereas the education through the regular curriculum was not associated with higher scores in some PPGR items. Structural equation modeling analyses show that learning about suicide was associated with higher preparedness as gatekeepers and this relationship is partially mediated by the increased awareness about gatekeeper roles. Based on these results, suggestions for social work education are made to help prepare social work students as professional gatekeepers, and thus contribute to suicide prevention.
