초록
This paper is designed to stress the importance of acknowledging the Lordship of Jesus Christ in the field of Christological studies by showing its fragmented and disarrayed situation. Thus it attempts to provide a general survey on the current state of Christological studies focusing on the following three issues. In the first section, the issue of the divinity of Christ in relation to incarnation is dealt, for it is the major issue in Christology. Particularly the question of the validity of the Chalcedon creed is so crucial that it needs to be highlighted in order not to be lost in the diverse currents of Christology. Next a short overview of the quest for the historical Jesus and its theological implications are presented, as it is one of the major trends in the contemporary Christological scene not to be overlooked. Then in the third section, some contextual Christologies are introduced. In this section the special concern is paidto the issue of the relation between the text (doctrinal concern) and cont xts (contextual concern) that has particular importance in Asian contexts. Lastly, drawing some insights from the survey, two important methodological issues in Christology are discussed, namely the issues of authority and the approaches to Christology. Concerning the former, this paper argues that the chief authority must be attributed to the Bible whereas concerning the latter, the Christology from above must be presupposed whatever contextual concerns are addressed. This paper once again ends with a strong emphasis on the need to affirm the Lordship of Jesus Christ in the current situation.
