Abstract

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK in 1992, the bilateral relations have developed rapidly, comprehensively and deeply in many fields such as economic cooperation, political diplomacy, people to people and cultural exchanges, and the multilateral arena, which can be called a successful “model” in the diplomatic history. In the context of the increasingly complex international situation, such as the great change in the past century, the strategic game between China and the United States, the COVID-19, and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, there have also been a variety of contradictions between China and South Korea, Structural competition is intensifying, and the trend of cooperation and disputes is increasingly obvious. There are not only hot issues in bilateral relations, but also more serious differences caused by third-party factors or regional security issues. In particular, the relationship between some hot issues and the third party is complex, which makes China ROK relations become a more complex multi-layer structure. Therefore, it is of great significance to comprehensively review the historical significance of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the ROK, summarize the development achievements and experience of the two countries in the past 30 years, deeply analyze the existing problems and challenges, and promote the high-level development of bilateral relations.
