Abstract
This study analyzes the structure, format, and explanatory methods of the book GyoungSeoYeiOGangHae (經書疑誤講解) compiled by Hong Gi(洪𧡺, 1634-?) in order to introduce it. GyoungSeoYeiOGangHae (經書疑誤講解) is the result of the analysis of errors in Confucian classics by professional proofreaders gathered around 1670 when the Classics Correction Office was established. The method of proofreading Confucian classics is described in detail in two prefaces. The preface to the Five Commentaries on the Classics consists of four sections, and the book is structured in the form of questions and answers between Song Si-yeol and Hong Gi. Parts that were difficult for the two to decide on were addressed with footnotes outside the text. The book also explains the reason for including the BoYou(補遺) section, and states that the Analects and Mencius were specifically included in the hard texts. The preface to the BeomlYe(凡例) consists of 13 sections, and provides a comparison of the two books, providing a standard text, and explaining the reason for analyzing difficult characters in detail. The Preface to GyoungSeoGoyJung(經書校正), consisting of four sections, explains that the book is structured in a question-and-answer format by Song Si-yeol and Hong Gi. It also provides extra-linear commentary on difficult passages, explaining the reasons for the inclusion of the "Hyungbo(鄕本)" section and providing considerations for the Analects and Mencius. The Preface to the Correction of the Classics, comprising 13 sections, presents the texts that serve as a basis for comparison, detailed reasons for character design, and standards for oral presentation.
