Abstract
The『Meghadūtam』is a glowing description of the beauty of nature. Natural things described frequently in the work are; cloud, mountain, and river. These natural things are introduced through personification at the surface level to draw a sensual love and then to express the desire and love of poetic self towards a separated wife. At the deep level, however, the inner existence of the natural things are identified with that of poetic self. Description of nature in the『Meghadūtam』 introduces traditional Indian thought which is nothing but a recognition of the one grand truth that the One is in Many, It also sets forth as a necessary corollary that man attains his true dignity only when he realizes that he is not independent of the world that is not human, and that natural things such as cloud, mountain, river, etc. are as much conscious of a personal life as man. Kālidāsa's high-soaring imagination in the『Meghadūtam』through description of nature reveals 'Wha Um aesthetics'.
