본 연구는 대구은행의 지속가능경영 활동에 대한 역사적 사례연구를 통해, 대구은행의 전략, 내부 프로세스 및 성과와 한계를 분석하였다. 대구은행의 지속가능경영 비전은 대내외 압력이 아닌 장기적 관점에서 지속가능성의 중요성을 인식한 선제적 전략이었다. 대구은행의 경영진의 의지와 리더십은 지속가능경영 조직을 설치하여 주무부서와 유기적인 상호작용을 촉진시켰으며, 개별 영업지점에 이르기까지 실현가능한 지속가능금융, 환경경영 및 사회공헌 활동을 실천할 수 있도록 하였다. 외적압력이 미성숙한 환경에서, 지속가능금융의 단기 재무성과와 위험관리 성과는 제한적이었다. 하지만 대구은행의 명성에는 매우 긍정적인 효과를 제공하였다. 이는 Hess(2003)의 주장처럼, 정부규제와 같은 외적 압력의 중요성과 지속가능경영이 단기적, 직접적 재무성과에 제한적일 수 있다는 주장을 지지하고 있다.
Abstract
This study looks into the sustainability management of Deagu bank. Using a historical, narrative case study, it examines the bank's leadership, internal process, and performances and limitations. Deagu bank introduced the sustainability management as a preemptive strategy for future. Its leadership showed a persistent willingness to implement sustainability management so that this helped promote effective cooperations between related departments. Through this internal process, Deagu bank developed and performed economic, environmental and social sustainability activities. In the circumstance where external pressures were not influential, Daegu bank's economic sustainability management appeared not to be a positive effect on environmental risk management. However, holistic performance over its sustainability management had a positive effect on reputation.
