Abstract

Medicalization means that what was not previously a medical problem is regarded as a problem of disease, and by returning the entire life cycle to a medical problem, everyone is either a provisional patient or a future patient. Although the entire life cycle is being mediated in our daily lives, we looked at what specifically (birth, old age, death, emotion, suicide, social deviation, women's health, male health, sexual pleasure, etc.) are being mediated, and we also looked at the degree of medicalization depending on the subject. In addition, social and ethical problems of human enhancement techniques were discussed, focusing on the body of medicalization, enhanced body relationships, and various cases. In a medicalized society, we wanted to find alternatives to medicalized body phenomena and discourse centered on the concept of self-care by Foucault, focusing on the dual attitude of teenagers' appearance and cases of menstrual inhibitor such as Mirena. In a medicalized society, teenagers regard appearance as something to be achieved by individual effort, and they regard their appearance as an important component of the qualification and manage it through medical intervention. At the same time, however, teenagers are strongly opposed to judging people by their looks, and they are also positive about sports such as decorset. The perception of menstruation also changes with the times and cultures, and menstrual inhibitor, such as Mirena, were originally developed for contraception purposes, but were used for treatment over time, and are further used today to improve the quality of life. In a medicalized society, many problems are solved through medical intervention, which makes it difficult for many to decide what choice to make for their bodies. What choice would you have to make to have a self-reliant body among those many possibilities? As a self-directed project in the neoliberal era, Foucault's later thinking was used to construct the aesthetics of the autonomous existence of the self-caring subject, not the subjective body of the self-aware subject, not the medicalized body, beyond medicalization. It is expected to inspire a great deal of inspiration.
