재속회의 본성과 그 독특한 생활양식 안에서 복음적 권고에 대한 충실성 – 회헌 제정의 기준

교회법전 제710조 ‒ 제730조는 재속회를 다루고 있다. 교회법 제710조에 따르면 “재속회는 그리스도교 신자들이 세속에 살면서 애덕의 완성을 향하여 노력하고 세상의 성화를 위하여 특히 그 안에서부터 기여하기를 힘쓰는 봉헌 생활회이다.” 이 법조문은 재속회의 본성과 고유성을 잘 드러내 주고 있다. 우선 재속회는 봉헌 생활회의 한 형태란 점이고 세속에 살면서 세상의 성화를 위해 사도직 활동을 하는 곳이다. 세상의 일상 조건에서 생활하는 봉헌 생활회로서 재속회 회원들은 복음적 권고들을 선서를 통해 수용한 이들이란 점에서 이에 대한 충실성이 요구된다. 그러나 세상이란 곳에서 살아간다는 점은 그리스도의 복음적 정신을 세상에 직접 전한다는 점에서 의미가 크지만, 복음적 권고들을 충실하게 살아가야 한다는 요구에 대해서 상당한 어려움 또한 존재하는 곳이기도 하다. 그래서 재속회의 회헌에는 복음적 권고를 충실히 살아갈 수 있는 기준들이 반영되어야 하고 우리는 이것을 세 가지로 제시했다. 첫째 재속회가 봉헌 생활회의 한 형태란 점이다. 둘째는 그들이 지닌 재속성인데 이것은 “교회가 사회 안에 효과적으로 현존하도록 도와”(봉헌생활 10항)주는데 기여해야 하는 것이고 이는 곧 재속성의 본질이라고 말할 수 있는 것이다. 셋째는 ‘건전한 모든 종류의 직업’이란 기준을 근거로 사도직 활동을 위한 직업을 선택해야 한다는 것이다. 이런 점들이 재속회의 고유법이나 회헌에 반영되어 회원들이 구체적으로 복음적 권고들을 충실하게 살아갈 수 있도록 마련되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The Code of Canon Law (Codex Iuris Canonici: CIC) deals with the secular institutes in cann. 710-730. According to the can. 710 of the CIC, “A secular institute is an institute of consecrated life in which Christ's faithful, living in the world, strive for the perfection of charity and endeavour to contribute to the sanctification of the world, especially from within.” This text reveals the nature and uniqueness of the secular institute. First of all, the secular institute is a form of institute of consecrated life, and it is an institute which lives in the world, exercising the apostolate for the sanctification of the world. Living in the ordinary life of the world as members of the institute of consecrated life, they are required to be duly faithful to the evangelical counsels which they accept through profession as members of the secular institute. But living in the world is significant in terms of communicating the evangelical spirit directly to the world, and it is also difficult so much in facing a demand of faithfully living the evangelical counsels. Therefore, the institute’s own laws or constitutions should reflect the criteria for faithfully living the evangelical counsels, and we presented this in three ways: firstly, the secular institute is a form of institute of consecrated life; secondly, the secular institute should preserve the secular character, whose contribution is to “help to ensure that the Church has an effective presence in society”(Vita consecrata, no.10), that is the nature of secular character; thirdly, it is necessary to choose jobs for exercising the apostolate based on the criteria of ‘all kinds of healthy work.’ These points should be reflected and incorporated in the institute’s own laws or constitutions so that the members could faithfully live the evangelical counsels in concrete ways.
