Abstract

This study examines the concept of “knowing God” in Proverbs 2:5 from the perspective of Reformed Life Theology, particularly the Theological Restoration Movement. Through analysis of the Hebrew text and its context within Proverbs 2:1-12, this research demonstrates that “knowing God” represents experiential knowledge through personal encounter rather than mere intellectual understanding. The study argues that theology has a dual nature: the non-academic aspect of “knowing God” and the academic aspect of “knowing about God”. This distinction corresponds to the Reformed Life Theology's perspective that “theology is not an academic discipline” while simultaneously acknowledging its academic value. By exploring the limitations of human cognition and the transcendent nature of God, this research contributes to understanding the essential nature of theology and provides significant implications for contemporary theological discourse.
