Abstract
As you know, essays, dealing with ordinary daily lives, are a way of writing free from formality and logic. That is why essays seem familiar to females Females strive to prove their own existence through essay writing, revealing vividly their daily experiences. Essays have taken the role of revealing the distinctive dominant voice in a specific society according to whoever the exclusive writers are. In the past, essay writing seemed to belong solely to males. Females were treated as the others by males who monopolized knowledge and power. They were also denied the right to verbal expressions. As a result, they were kept out of the field of writing as well. Thus the emergence of prolific essays written by females could be seen as an indication of certain changes in the social structure. It is quite notable that there are many female poets writing essays these days, Essays have been understood as a type of prose. However, they have become tinged with poetic properties as many female poets get to write essays. Female essays were established neither due to purely artistic impulses, nor due to educative motives. Females are trying to recognize their own existence, that is, to extend their subjective way of life through essay writing. They have been forced to be silent, not by their own choice, but by outside pressures. Therefore, there are a variety of emotions permeated in the female verbal expressions. As essay writing could be a remedial measure to restore the damaged self, its strongly suggested that women should exploit essay writing earnestly. In addition, female essays carry the characteristics of the oral folk literature in that they are aiming for communication and relationship, It is this communicative feature of female essays that prevents them from indulging into an empty monologue due to their poetic element. Women want their experiences not to be confined in the past, but to be constantly reinterpreted over the present and future experiences. As I mentioned above, female essays are on the borderline between the prose and the verse. As the poetic feature of female essays grows intense, they could be locked up in the imaginary language, that is, the isolated language, It is the element of this oral folk literature, another feature of the female essays that enables t to avoid that risk. Ms, Hae-Soon Kim emphasizes that women should try to create and complete the femininity persistently in their verbal expressions through communication, as in 'Ba-ri-dae-gi' drama, Ms, Jeong-Lan Kim demands that women should maintain the diversity of female verbal expressions, not assimilated to the masculine language, even if they are not consistent and tom apart and thus treated as insane language. However its still complicated to suggest the model how to femininely write Thats due to the fact that the female verbal expressions are presumed diverse. This aspect could be both the potentiality and the limits of female verbal expressions. The task women are confronted with now is not to make up a new female language, but to reveal rather earnestly those subtle, delicate feminine experiences.
