자원봉사자의 이중관계 인식과 경험에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 사회복지 현장에서 봉사자들이 클라이언트와의 이중관계에 대해 어떻게 인식하고 있으며, 이러한 이중관계의 상황을 얼마나 경험하였는지를 알아보기 위해 서울 지역 자원봉사자 200명을 대상으로 성적, 대가성, 개인적인 이중관계에 대한 인식과 경험을 조사하였다. 회수된 145명의 설문지에 대해 빈도분석 및 집단간 차이 분석을 실시한 결과, 첫째, 인식 면에서는 성적, 대가성 관계에 대해서는 비윤리적이라 인식하는 경향이 나타났으나, 개인적 관계에 대해서는 허용적인 태도를 보였다. 반면, 경험 면에서는 세 영역에 대해서 모두 경험률이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 인식과 경험 간에는 유의미한 차이를 보였는데, 세 영역 모두 경험보다는 인식 면에서 더 허용적임을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 각 차원의 인식과 경험 간의 상관관계가 높아, 각 상황에 대해 허용적으로 인식할수록 경험할 확률도 높아진다는 것을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 인구학적 요인에 따른 차이에서 경험보다 인식 면에서 의미있는 차이를 보였다. 즉, 남성, 비기혼자, 젊은 연령층(20-30대), 짧은 봉사기간(1년 미만)의 특성을 가진 자원봉사자들이 여성이나, 기혼자, 장노년층, 장기활동 봉사자들보다 이중관계에 대해 더 허용적이었다. 이러한 결과를 통해서 볼 때, 사회복지 현장의 자원봉사자에게는 클라이언트와의 이중관계에 대해 인식할 수 있도록 지속적인 윤리교육과 사례지도가 제공되어야 하며, 자원봉사기관에서는 이중관계를 다루는 교육과 훈련의 기회를 제공하고 비윤리적 실천이 발생하지 않도록 지도하는 시스템을 구축해야 할 것이다.
Abstract
This study has surveyed 145 volunteers to recognize how much they perceive and how many they have experienced dual relationships in serving their clients at social welfare field. Focused on sexual, bartering and private relationships, respondents tend to have a quite lower level of ethical perception about dual relationships while they little experienced of them. It appeared volunteers who have property of women, married, older generation have strict attitudes about dual relationships. From these results, it suggested that the administrative supervision system should be established to educate volunteers at social welfare field about ethical principles in relationship with clients, while volunteering organizations should provide a regular ethical-based training course and present a conduct guideline on dual relationships preventing volunteers' non-ethical implementation.
