본 연구에서는 박○○의 인천일기를 텍스트마이닝 기법으로 분석하여 주물노동자의 눈으로 본 1950~60년대의 공장풍경과 일상생활을 재구성해 보았다. 인천일기는 해방 이후 일본인 소유 귀속재산의 불하를 통해 진행된 제조업 복구과정에서, 현장 노동자들의 구숙련에 일정하게 의존하였으며, 이를 통해 박○○ 자신도 생산직 숙련노동자에서 중간관리자로 계층상승하는 경로를 걸었음을 보여준다. 본격적인 압축근대화 시기 이전, 1950~60년대의 주물공장은 정전, 주물사 동결, 원료공급차질, 불안정한 생산설비와 생산공정, 임금체불과 연관된 노조의 작업거부 등으로 빈번한 조업중단과 생산차질을 빚고 있다. 주문생산방식의 주물 생산공정에서는 주문이 밀리면 잔업이나 철야는 다반사로 행해졌으며, 도급제는 이와같은 장시간 노동을 강제하는 장치로활용되었다. 현물급여와 임금체불도 빈번하게 나타났고, 노동조합은 임금체불에는 잔업거부로 맞서지만, 이면에서는 경영에 협조하면서 대주주간의 경영권 다툼에도 깊숙하게 관여하는실리주의 노선을 보여주는데, 현장노동자 출신 박○○은 노동조합과 고용주를 연결하는 역할을 수행하며 사내 인맥을 넓혀갔던 것으로 보인다. 인천일기가 보여주는 직장생활은 공장 내에서의 근무시간에 한정되지 않으며 퇴근 후의 밤의 문화 역시 철저하게 직장영역과의 연관하에 진행되고 있으며, 여가나 취미활동, 나아가 이성교제까지 직장의 인맥관계 속에서 진행된다. 이는 농촌공동체를 대신하여 소위 가족주의 기업문화 속에 직장공동체가 탄생하였다기 보다는 직장이 가정과 개인의 사적세계까지 침투하고 지배하였다고 판단하는 것이 정당할 것으로 여겨진다.
Abstract
In this study, Park's Incheon diary was analyzed using text mining techniques to reconstruct factory landscape and daily life in the 1950s and 1960s from the perspective of a casting worker. The results of text mining show that in the process of restoration of the manufacturing industry through the sale of Japanese-owned enterprises after liberation, Park also rose from skilled production workers to middle managers. In the 1950s and 1960s, foundry operation process was frequently disrupted due to power outages, freezing of foundry sand, disrupted raw material supply, and poor production facilities. In foundry production plants based on custom production, overtime, all-night, and holiday work were frequently performed, and the contract system was used as a device to force such long-time labor. Wages were frequently overdue, and labor unions responded by refusing to work. However, the labor union intimately cooperated with management on the other matters and Park, a middle manager from a field worker, played a role of intermediary between trade union officials and employers. The work life shown by the Incheon Diary is not limited to working hours in the factory, and the culture of the night after work is thoroughly related to the workplace, and leisure, hobbies, and even dating were carried out in connection with work connections. Rather than creating a workplace community in the so-called familial corporate culture on behalf of the rural community, it is considered reasonable to judge that the workplace penetrated and dominated the private world of families and individuals.
